This is almost always the small 12V battery, not the main hybrid/EV battery. It powers the car's computers and has to "wake up" the rest of the system — if it's weak, the car won't start even though the main battery is fully charged. We test this on-site, and it's usually a much cheaper fix than people expect.
Several popular models have a documented higher rate of 12V battery issues, including the Toyota Yaris, Yaris Cross and Corolla, the Lexus LBX, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kona Electric, and the Kia EV6 and Soul EV. If you drive one of these and your car has been slow to start, it's worth getting the 12V battery checked.
